Application Methods and Rates

Top-Dressing Established Plants:

Rate: Spread a thin layer (≈ 1/4 inch) of Charged BioChar around the base of existing plants.

  • Method: Gently work into the topsoil and water thoroughly.

  • Frequency: Once per season or as needed to boost soil health.

Transplants:

  • Rate: Add 1/4–1 cup of Charged BioChar to the bottom of each transplant hole, depending on plant size.

  • Method: Mix with backfill soil before placing the plant. Water thoroughly after planting.

  • Frequency: Apply at planting time.

Soil Amendment for New Beds:

  • Rate: Mix Charged BioChar at a rate of 5–15% by volume into the top 6 inches of soil.

  • Method: Work evenly into the soil before planting.

  • Frequency: Once at the start of the season.

Lawns:

  • Rate: Spread 0.5–1.0 cubic feet of Charged BioChar per 1,000 sq ft.

  • Method: Apply evenly using a spreader and water thoroughly.

  • Frequency: Once per year or as needed to improve soil health.

Potting Mixes:

  • Rate: Create a mix using Charged BioChar (5–15%), worm castings (10–20%), and coco coir (65–85%) by volume.

  • Method: Blend thoroughly for an even distribution.

  • Frequency: Prepare fresh mixes as needed for planting.

Large Areas and Trees:

  • Rate: Apply approximately 1-2 cubic feet per 1,000 sq ft or 1/4–1 cup per inch of tree diameter at breast height (DBH).

  • Method: Work into the soil surface or incorporate into the root zone.

  • Frequency: Apply as needed based on tree or area requirements.
