Application Methods and Rates:
A note about rates, methods, and frequency of use...there is no exact science on this. These are guidelines, not an instruction manual, have fun and experiment. The only thing to not do is attempt to grow directly into the castings, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. It is meant to be diluted. So that it is no more than 1 part casting to 1 part grow media. Reassess your need for the product on an annual basis.
Top-Dressing Established Plants: Sprinkle 1/4" – 1" inch of worm castings around the base of plants, targeting the drip line area. Gently work into the soil surface or cover with additional soil or mulch, if possible. Lightly water in. 1 or 2 applications per year
Transplants: Mix with transplant hole backfill, Smaller plant use between (1/3 - 1 cup), medium plant (1 - 3 cups), large plant (3 - 9 cups)
Soil Mix: Incorporate 5-20% worm castings by volume into potting soil or garden beds before planting.
Lawns: Broadcast 10–25 lbs per 1,000 sq ft by spreading evenly across the lawn. Water thoroughly after application. 1 - 3 applications per year, reassess need annually
- Crafting Teas and Extracts: Add 1/4 - 1 cup of castings per gallon of water. Agitate thoroughly for 30-60 seconds, and apply as a foliar spray or soil drench. 1 - 3+ gallons per 500 sqft. Apply teas or extracts a minimum of 3 times between planting and maturity, up to once per week throughout the growing season. *We'll add a link to an article or video for crafting compost teas*
