Key Benefits
Customizable Charging: Tailor your biochar with nutrients and microbes for specific applications.
Improves Soil Health: Enhances soil structure, aeration, and long-term fertility.
Water Filtration: Acts as an effective natural filter for removing impurities.
Eco-Friendly Solution: Made from renewable pecan shells
How It Works
Uncharged BioChar provides a porous structure with massive surface area, creating a long-lasting framework for soil improvement. While uncharged, it binds nutrients, making it essential to pre-charge with compost, teas, or nutrient solutions before use in soil. Its neutral properties also make it ideal for water filtration and bioremediation.

Application Methods and Rates
Soil Amendment for New Beds:
Rate: Mix Uncharged BioChar at a rate of 5–15% by volume into the top 6 inches of soil.
Method: Work evenly into the soil before planting.
Frequency: Once at the start of the season.
Water Filtration:
Rate: Use Uncharged BioChar as a layer in water filtration systems.
Method: Rinse thoroughly before use. Replace as needed based on filtration performance.
Frequency: 1–2 cubic feet per 1,000 gallons depending on water quality and system design. Replace biochar after filtering 500–1,000 gallons of water.
Bioremediation Projects:
- Rate: Apply 3–5 cubic feet per 1,000 sq ft for general soil bioremediation, adjusting based on the severity of contamination and specific site requirements.
Method: Work into the soil surface or incorporate into contaminated zones for optimal results.
Frequency: Apply as needed based on project scope and soil health goals.
DIY Charging and Compost Integration:
- Rate: Mix Uncharged BioChar with compost at a rate of 5–50% (50-95% compost) by volume.
Method: Allow biochar to soak in the nutrients and microbes from compost for 2–4 weeks before use.
Frequency: Prepare fresh batches as needed for planting or soil amendment.
Important Notes:
Charged vs. Uncharged BioChar: Uncharged biochar must be "charged" with nutrients and microbes before use to avoid temporarily binding soil nutrients. Charge by soaking in compost tea/extract or nutrient solutions for 12–24 hours, or compost for 2–4 weeks.
Customizable for Your Needs: Ideal for gardeners, farmers, and remediation projects who wish to tailor biochar to their specific soil or water needs.
Safe and Sustainable: A byproduct of the pecan industry, it’s eco-friendly, renewable, and turns waste into an incredible tool for growers from every corner.
For the seasoned grower our Uncharged BioChar is a great starting point. Made from 100% pecan shells, it provides a blank slate for custom nutrient and microbial charging, making it highly versatile for soil improvement, water filtration, and bioremediation.
